SHOULD FRUITCAKES BE ON THE ENDANGERED LIST?
Well, it is time once again to put up the fruitcakes for another year, unless you are using it for a doorstop. It is the time of year when you have about devoured all the goodies from Christmas and the only thing left is the FRUITCAKE. Don't do it, put it away for next years Fruitcake Re-gifting. There are only so many fruitcakes in the world and they are passed around each year, so don't remove the cellophane. I say a story of concern that slipped under the radar during the holidays how the winner of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest participated in a fruitcake eating contest and lost. I don't know how many fruitcakes were eaten during this contest, but it may have put them on the endanged list. I beg of you, put the fruitcake away before the temptation grows to great and you rip open the cellophane. If per chance you have opened it, it is not to late. It will keep without the wrapping, PUT IT UP! Let's keep Fruitcake Re-gifting more than just a memory like so many things that have disappeared from our lives. Happy 2009

MARYVILLE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
This past weekend Maryville played in one of the State Championship games in Murfreesboro, TN against Hillsboro High School in Nashville. On the line was a possible 5th State Championship in a row and the 75th consecutive win for the school. It was a tough game in Maryville ended up on the short end of the score 10-7. But there was a greater winning streak going on there, one that continues. It is the leadership of George Quarles, David Ellis, Jimmy Gaylor and the other coaches. Over the years they have done a wonderful job building character in the young men who have been on the team. They have taught them self-discipline, good values, and given them leadership skills that will guide them through life.
Thank you men for your commitment and investment in the lives of these young men over the last few years. The community is greatly aware of what you have done and it is appreciated.

FINALLY
I have been watching all the economic and political goings on over the last couple of months, watching corrupt Wall Street executives and corrupt politicians work on plans to solve the problems. The solutions seem to be whatever would help them economically. No money seems to being paid back and no one seems to be going to jail. The foxes are in charge of the henhouse.
Today for the first time I saw a political leader come out with a plan to solve the automotive mess that makes sense. That was Bob Corker, Senator from Tennessee. I began to wonder, how he could have such a practical plan and no one else has come up with anything other than to give you and my money away. I then realized why, Bob Corker was a business man in Chattanooga and knows about business. What a novel idea. That illustrates to me that for the most part we have the wrong people in Washington, all they know how to do is tax and spend.
Praises for Bob Corker.
